Crayfish breathe oxygen from Messer

Switzerland | The crayfish and fish farming company Edelkrebs AG in Sins uses oxygen from Messer to aerate its tanks. Its newly installed recirculating aquaculture system is specially designed to meet the needs of the animals, enabling their ethical treatment without the use of antibiotics, chemicals, hormones or growth promoters. The company specializes in raising high value fish and

crustaceans for human consumption, including crayfish, grayling and Bachtel salmon, a Swiss crossbreed of Pacific salmon. The crayfish and the native grayling are on the “Red List” of endangered species in Switzerland. Edelkrebs AG also supplies these species as breeding animals for release into the cantons’ local waters, thereby helping to maintain the natural ecosystems.
