Making welding less unwieldy

Switzerland | Messer supplies nitrogen and oxygen to equipment manufacturer Laube + Co. AG in Mellikon for its cutting operations. A new laser system there is used to cut aluminum, stainless steel and non-ferrous metal in thicknesses of up to 25 millimeters. An integrated laser enables the changeovers from flatbed to pipe within a few minutes. In addition, Messer installed a gas supply system with three welding stations for the workshop.

Along with argon, special mixtures such as Ferroline and forming gas are also used there. “The new gas supply system is a convenient and economical solution for us that minimizes machine downtime and optimizes welding operations,” says Manuela Laube, owner and general manager of the family business. Pleased with the result, she adds: “The welders now have a work area that is both efficient and safe, because they no longer have to transport heavy gas cylinders.”
