"I would like to participate in marathon running."

Márcio Oliveira works as Sales Manager for On-site Plants at Messer in Brazil. He started out at BOC Gases (now Messer) in 1999, first gaining experience in logistics and product management.

What was your nicest “gases experience”? Working on a three-year project to centralize the logistics for bulk deliveries in all South American countries. It gave me the opportunity to collaborate with many people from completely different cultures – an exciting adventure, a great experience and a successful project! What are people supposed to see, by all means, when visiting your country? Brazil is a big country with friendly, hospitable people. If I had to choose, I would recommend spending a few days in the Chapada Diamantina National Park. It’s a paradise with waterfalls, caves and plenty of nature. What three things would you miss the least? No doubt about it: Covid-19, racism and poverty. Which celebrities would you like to spend an evening with? With someone who changed the world by fighting for justice and liberty. If Nelson Mandela were still alive, he would be at the top of my list. What would you still like to learn in your life? To me, gaining experience is also a form of learning. In that sense, I would really like to participate in marathon running. I’ve already run some half-marathons and I think I’m on the right track. What else? To study philosophy or sociology – something engineers rarely do!
