Spain | In its metalworking operations, the automotive supplier Gestamp uses a whole range of gases, including liquid nitrogen, argon, and CO₂. Last year, Messer installed three tanks at the Gestamp production facilities in Orkoien and Noain near Pamplona to raise the resupply capacity. Since April 2022, Messer has also been supplying the company with cylinder gases, including oxygen, acetylene, nitrogen, argon, and the welding gas mixtures Ferroline and Lasline. The gases are used in punching, welding, and hydroforming operations. With over 40,000 employees, Gestamp is a multinational group represented in major automotive industry centers in more than 20 countries. In Pamplona, for example, Volkswagen has a production site. To reduce the distances traveled to deliver gases, Messer plans to build a new filling plant in the region. The new plant is scheduled to go into operation 2024.
